HOW IT ALL BEGAN

1990-1995

In search of regional specialties, Horst Bernd Paech and Michael Kunzmann founded Havelland Express in 1990. With German reunification, Berlin suddenly had a countryside again: Brandenburg was traditionally Berlin's vegetable garden and bacon belt. The idea of reviving former supply structures of the metropolis was born. Right from the start, the two of them were looking for something special - such as rabbits from Beelitz, which have been in our range since 1992. Products from the very beginning also include Brandenburg country duck, Müritz pike-perch and local fruit from Werder. Havelland Express is growing rapidly and building up supply chains, as the demand for absolutely fresh food is high. The range is becoming increasingly diverse.

CONQUERING NEW MARKETS

1995-2010

In 1996 Havelland Express goes to France, which kitchens are among the best in the world. A milestone. Since then, our buyers have been constantly on the spot in the Paris market halls. Frankfurt Airport is also an important hub for fresh products from all over the world. Here, Havelland Express receives specialties from overseas directly and forwards them immediately. Relationships with international hotels and restaurants open up new markets. We have been supplying upmarket hotels and restaurants in Prague, Marienbad and Karlovy Vary since 2004. The positive response has encouraged us to take our business model to Poland. We quickly deliver fresh products from Berlin to Warsaw, Poznan and Gdansk.

FRESH FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD

2010-2015

Since its foundation, Havelland Express has been committed to the preservation of regional animal species and the conservation of local flavors. With the company's own "Green Label", introduced in 2010, we guarantee species-appropriate rearing and husbandry, sustainable management and full transparency. There are many reasons to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Our range now includes high-quality fresh products from all over the world, including fish from Iceland, fruit from Thailand, beef from Argentina and caviar from Poland. Always with the claim: The best product - as close and sustainable as possible. Since 2015, Havelland Express has been selling the "Havelländer Apfelschwein", probably the best product of its kind.

NEW ALLIANCES & HORIZONS

2015-2023

Our company continues to grow. In addition to our Berlin headquarters, we also have offices in Hamburg and Hanover. The "Innovator of the Year 2021" award proves that we are moving with the times and constantly reinventing ourselves. We will start shipping to Estonia and Latvia in 2022, where employee offices will also be built. And our site in Munich will be added in 2023. A product is only as good as its origin. We believe in this just as much as JRE-Origins. Consequently, Havelland Express has been part of this quality and enjoyment network since 2023. The focus is now shifting to the northern German, where Havelland Express aims to be represented throughout the country.
